My Fit Kit recommends a 538mm top tube. Nobody offers stock geometries in these sizes. What's my best fit?
Fit Kit's computation nearly always ends up
with odd millimeter measurements. Because of their arithmetic
Fit Kit insists on publishing these values in their tables and
computer programs. Fit Kit acknowledges that deviations of up
to a centimeter rarely cause problems. Fit Kit also points out
that the numbers produced through their system create a "safe
and developmental" position which may need adjustment for
a variety of reasons. Any recommendations from the Fit Kit should
be verified by simulating the recommended riding position and
making any necessary adjustments. Even an initial fitting can
only go so far.
Any recommendations should anticipate the minor
adjustments a rider makes from year to year, adjustments made
over the course of a riding season and even in the course of a
day. These adjustments might be saddle height, saddle fore- and
aft-positioning as well as stem height. The goal of a good fitting
will in most cases provide the rider the ability to adjust these
components in both directions to accommodate the natural changes
the body goes through over time.
