You can, if it\'s a color in our PPG Color Binder. Otherwise we like to see a sample, as this insures the closest possible color match.
PPG offers cross-reference formulas for colors offerec from a variety of sources, such as Dupont IMRON colors or colors from other car paint vendors. In some cases, even PPG colors don\'t work if they are not designed to go on cars or similar products. Even if they have a formula for a code, the match is not perfect. If you are color sensitive, this may not be close enough. The only way to insure a color match is to have a sample for our painters to see. Riders have sent in all sorts of items, including t-shirts and wrappers from wine bottles. We do a pretty good job once we have these in hand.
PPG doesn\'t even have formulas for a number of paint systems. Pantone colors, used extensively in printing, don\'t translate directly to our paints. Likewise for colors you find at the hardware store.
Sometimes, we\'re asked to match a color, but to enhance it with a pearl or metallic. We can give it a try, but we can\'t guaranty a match, because such requests are entirely open to interpretation. In these cases, we suggest you request a test sample color.
